* Introduction to the Intelligent Building Label

  In order to facilitate the intelligent building planning and design in Taiwan with explicit instruction, the ABRI established the Intelligent Building Evaluation System in 2003. A newly-constructed building that meets the requirements and criteria set up by the system may apply for intelligent building certification.

  The intelligent building certification consists of two parts: “Intelligent Building Label” for completed buildings, and “Intelligent Building Candidate Certificate” for building projects according to their planning and design documentations. The candidate certificate is aimed at providing an opportunity to preview and adjust the possible inadequate design in advance so that the high-cost improvement after completion may be effectively eliminated. The minimum requirement for green building certification is to pass five indicators, including four prerequisites (unified wiring, information and communication, system integration, and facility management) and at least one optional indicator from among the category of functions. The certified intelligent building can substantially provide building occupants with a living environment of safety, health, convenience, comfort, and energy efficiency. Since the system was first promoted, a total of 58 buildings or projects in Taiwan have been certified as intelligent buildings by the end of December, 2013.

  The green building certification process currently consists of two administrative stages: technical review and label conferral. The technical review for intelligent building certification has been re-assigned to the designated professional organization to evaluate since January 1, 2010. As for its application procedure, an applicant may apply to the Ministry of the Interior for intelligent building certification with the application form and the evaluation report prepared by the designated professional organization (currently Taiwan Architecture and Building Center). The certification and relevant procedures shall comply with the “Operational Directions for Applying for Intelligent Building Evaluation and Certification.”

CHIAYI industry Innovation and Research Center (Phase I construction), MOEA The center received the Intelligent Building Candidate Certificate in July, 2011 and the Intelligent Building Label in March, 2013. The evaluation is based on the Intelligent Building Evaluation Manual (2003 version). It is certified as an intelligent building with following criteria: unified wiring, information and communication, system integration, facility management, safety and disaster prevention, health and comfort, as well as energy efficiency and management.
Public School:
Education Building of National Taiwan University of Science and Technology The building project received the Intelligent Building Candidate Certificate in November, 2009, which evaluation was based on the Intelligent Building Evaluation Manual (2003 version). The project was certified as an intelligent building with following criteria: unified wiring, information and communication, system integration, facility management, as well as safety and disaster prevention.
